Here’s just a little taste of what I’ve got going on with my Hassayampa travels recently. Don’t have a whole lot of time to work on it right now, I’m needing to resize the pictures to save space, for now these are all just full-sized. Enjoy!

Something Coming Soon

As it were, I have been extra busy these past few days working on my future wife’s car, extra training stuff for work and all around being busy just working. I do however have an extra hour each night now in order to accomplish more and I plan to utilize this extra hour soon to start blogging more frequently.

I recently took a trip up to the Hassayampa River Preserve near Wickenburg, AZ and got some really great photos and video that I will get to working on this weekend and hopefully get a proper post put up here. One small issue I’ve run into though is getting pictures loaded up in a proper fashion. I would like to load them up in some sort of gallery format but have so far been unsuccessful. I will be playing around with a few options here to test things out until I find a method I prefer.

In any case, I leave you with this for the night. I am still alive, just overwhelmed with everything else going on right now but things should start to calm down next week.

Thanks for reading!

This past weekend I had hoped to take a day trip out of the city and get some new pictures and writing done to put up here but unfortunately I’ve come down with both strep throat and, oddly enough, pink eye. So instead of going out on any hikes I stayed inside and rested until I was pretty damn bored of it and then I rested some more because I couldn’t really do much else anyway.

I am planning a trip soon though and have been looking around at a few places I might like to visit.

First off, Antelope Canyon in the far North of Page, AZ would be absolutely beautiful to visit. It is close to a 300 mile / 5-6 hour drive which I’m not entirely up to quite yet. Keep in mind I’m hoping to get around somewhere this upcoming weekend so I can get an official post up for everyone.

Second, which is still a bit more lengthy than I’m really hoping to go for, I’ve got the Petrified Forest National Park which would make an interesting write-up I’m sure. It is still close to 200 miles away from where I’m at which could prove to be a rough drive, especially if I’m going this alone. My wife just picked up a second job and will be much busier than ever and won’t be accompanying me on many of my travels from here on out which is really saddening.

Third place, I really don’t know, I’m going to pick up a big map of the state though and start plotting locations I’ve currently been and places I would like to visit. Maybe just start throwing darts at it and picking whatever is closest in proximity, but for the sake of writing, let me look up somewhere on Google Maps. I don’t know, I can’t find much right now that happens to be in a close enough proximity to my liking. I may take another trip up to Wickenburg, I never made it to the Hassayampa River the first time around and would like to check it out. Though I may also head out somewhere like Carefree or maybe Wildcat Hill a bit North East of Phoenix.

Anyway, that’s all I really have to post currently. Check back later this week. If I make anymore plans I will probably be writing them up Thursday or Friday.

Unfortunately I do not foresee myself taking any lengthy trips in the near future as I’ve suddenly come down with some sort of virus. I’ve been having a great deal of trouble trying to sleep and my throat is absolutely killing me. In the meantime however, I did want to go ahead and get a few pictures posted up here for all to see from my recent trip through Wickenburg and up into the mountains to visit Prescott where I got to see snow for the first time in probably four or five years.

So anyway, here you go, enjoy the pictures for the time being. I will be trying to work on the site a bit more over the coming weeks as I work on finding a suitable layout and format for my posts.

Things to Come

Welcome to my new blog, AZ Rogue’s Travels, a blog dedicated purely to my trips and experiences in the great state of Arizona. This first post will, simply put, be a little background on the concept and future of this blog.

Arizona is oftend derided as being something like Florida’s redneck cousin and our one big attraction, the Grand Canyon is put off as nothing more than a big hole in the ground. Hollywood continually portrays the state as a massive desert whose locals are all idiotic, gun-toting hillbillies and there could be nothing further from the truth.

I would love to dispel these remarks and prove that Arizona has much more to offer. Having grown up here I know the land; I know the cities and the people, this is my home state afterall, and I feel I can shine a new light on what Arizona truly is.

I must reluctantly admit however that as with all stereotypes, they would not exist if there was not some truth, that Arizona has its fair share of stupidity and possibly ugliness. Where does ugliness not exist though? Where is a place filled with only the brightest of human minds? Where can one find nothing but serene land, unlitterred by man? There is no place such as this, for in this modern world these idealistic states are concepts and dreams.

There is beauty here and I know where it lies so I am determined to display it, document it and dispel the preconceived notions of Arizona being nothing more than a backward state.
